Industries/Construction

By the time the invitation to bid arrives, the shortlist is already written.

General contractors preselect who gets asked to bid. Prequalification happens during preconstruction, weeks before any package goes out — which means the work of winning the job starts long before there's a job to win. We research the projects entering that phase and get you in front of the people building the list.

Who buys from you

The people who decide who gets invited.

Construction work moves through a chain, and where you sit in it determines who you need to know. A subcontractor's buyer is a general contractor; a general contractor's buyer is the party funding the project.

General contractors

They assemble the bid list from firms they already trust or have prequalified. Being on that list before the package goes out is the entire game for a subcontractor.

Who we reach inside

Chief Estimator · Preconstruction Manager · Project Executive · Director of Purchasing

Developers and project owners

They select the general contractor and, on larger jobs, influence which trades come along. Their pipeline is the earliest visible signal of work ahead.

Who we reach inside

Director of Development · VP of Construction · Owner's Representative · Asset Manager

Construction and program managers

Brought in to run delivery on behalf of an owner, they control prequalification criteria and often carry their preferred firms from project to project.

Who we reach inside

Program Manager · Senior Project Manager · Director of Construction Services

Architecture and engineering firms

They rarely award the work, but they shape specifications and get asked who's worth calling. A relationship here shows up two projects later.

What we watch for

The signals that a project is about to need someone.

Public filings, permits and hiring patterns say a lot about what's coming. These are the situations our research is built to surface.

Projects entering preconstruction

This is the window where scope gets packaged and bid lists get built. Reaching an estimator now is worth more than reaching them on bid day.

Land acquisition and permit filings

A site changing hands or a permit going in is the earliest public signal that work is coming, often months before anyone is contacted.

Firms expanding into a new market

A developer or general contractor moving into a region they haven't built in arrives without a local subcontractor bench, and needs one quickly.

Trade gaps on an active project

Schedules slip when a scope goes unfilled or a sub falls behind. Contractors in that position take calls they'd otherwise ignore.

Framework and multi-project relationships

Some owners run continuous programs — retail rollouts, campus work, portfolio upgrades — and prefer one relationship over repeated bidding.

Recent funding or expansion announcements

Capital raised for expansion becomes buildings. The gap between the announcement and the first bid package is the opening.
